Seeding in a City Planned Around Water
Hydroseeding in Peachtree City works inside a city that was planned from scratch. Developers bought over 12,000 acres of Fayette County in the 1950s, the city was chartered in 1959, and Flat Creek was dammed in 1957 to create Lake Peachtree. Neighborhoods, lakes and more than 100 miles of golf cart paths were laid out together.
Three lakes on one creek
Lake Kedron to the north feeds Lake Peachtree to the south through Flat Creek, and Lake McIntosh is the newest of the three. Lake Kedron is managed to keep Lake Peachtree full during dry spells. Lots that drain to these lakes, or to the creeks between them, need silt fence before grading and quick cover after.
Cart path shoulders
The path network runs behind yards and through wooded strips all over town. Path edges and the banks beside them wear down, wash out at low points, and need regrading and reseeding. Hydroseed is easy to apply along long, narrow strips, and blankets help where water crosses a path.
The Line Creek edge
Line Creek forms the city's western boundary and the county line, and flows south to the Flint River. The western neighborhoods drain to it. Sediment control on those lots protects a stream that leaves the metro entirely, heading for the Flint.
Mature planned neighborhoods
The city has been around since 1959, so many of its neighborhoods are decades old. The trees have grown up, shade has crept across lawns, and soil has compacted. Lawn renovation here often means overseeding with a shade-tolerant mix and aerating, instead of full replacement.

Peachtree City Questions
The bank beside the cart path behind my house is washing. Can you fix it?
Yes. We regrade the low spots, seed and pin blankets where water crosses, so the bank holds.
My lot drains to Lake Peachtree. What should be in place during work?
Silt fence on the low side and fast seeding once the grade is finished, so sediment stays out of the lake.
My 1980s lawn is thin under big trees. What helps?
Aeration and overseeding with a shade-tolerant fescue blend usually beats starting over.
Do you work in the western neighborhoods near Line Creek?
Yes, throughout the city, including lots that drain west to Line Creek.
Is hydroseed good for long, narrow strips?
Yes. The hose reaches strips along paths and fences that are hard to sod.
